Hello, my name is Tanorria Askew. I’ve spent several days trying to figure out what to include in this bio, and I kept coming back to the same thing. I simply love to cook and want to share this passion with others. Tanorria’s Table is my way of doing that.
I wake up and go to bed thinking about what I can cook next. There isn’t one part of preparing a meal that I don’t love. Imagining what I’m going to prepare, planning for it, shopping for it, cooking it, and plating it; every single part of the experience is the best part to me. To top it off I get the pleasure of witnessing people eat and enjoy what I’ve made. It truly is an honor. My goal is to do that for as many people as I can while encouraging them to do it for others.
While I can make mention of my Bachelor’s Degree and Certificate in Events Management or my brief study at the Culinary Arts Institute; I could also point out my professional accolades such as the 14 years I’ve spent at a local credit union growing within various job roles such as Assistant Manager and Training and Organizational Development Specialist. Those go without mentioning my volunteer efforts as Hospitality Team Leader at my local church and weekend Kitchen Assistant at a local food bank.
My culinary credentials are simple, but memorable. I come from the “Culinary Institute of My Parents & Grandparents”. Born in Chattanooga, TN, and raised in Indianapolis, IN, we traveled to be with family a lot. I can’t remember a time where our family came together and there wasn’t an amazing home cooked meal. Growing up my family was always the family who did the entertaining and the cooking. I got to witness, first hand, how food can show love, compassion, unity, and fun. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?
The tradition of comfort with a dash of modern, the requirements of healthy with the promise of flavorful, the commitment of informative with a whole lot of fun—please come have a seat at my table... Tanorria’s Table!
